Ambassador Oka visits UTAR

UTAR was proud to welcome His Excellency Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia to UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 21 April 2021. During the meeting, Prof Ewe suggested some potential areas of collaboration that would benefit both parties. Other possible areas of collaboration were also brought up by both parties during the meeting, including Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for Research Students, collaborations between UTAR and Higher Institutions in Japan and collaborations between UTAR and Local Japanese Industries. 




UTAR promotes industry-academia collaborations through virtual discussions

Aimed at promoting the industry-academia collaborations between UTAR and its collaboration partners, UTAR Division of Community and International Networking (DCInterNET) organised 2021 UTAR Industry-Academic Dialogue: E-Commerce and co-organised together with UTAR Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research, Centre for Corporate and Community Development and Department of Consultancy and Commercialisation; and supported by UTAR Faculty of Management and Accountancy (FAM), Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF), Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) and Unovate Centre on 7 April 2021 on zoom. The forum invited a total of five internal speakers from UTAR, namely FAM Department of Accountancy Lecturer Ezatul Emilia binti Muhammad Arif, FICT Department of Information Systems Senior Lecturer Ts Lim Jit Theam, FBF Department of Commerce and Accountancy Specialist I Chin Yoon Mei, Head of Unovate Centre-cum-FEGT Department of Electronic Engineering Lecturer Dr Lee Sheng Chyan and LKC FES Department of Internet Engineering and Computer Science Lecturer Dr Wong Whee Yen.




UTAR and MCM eCOM Global Venture Sdn Bhd establish second ECFC at Kampar Campus

Following a successful collaborative accomplishment with MCM eCOM Global Venture Sdn Bhd (BizPorter) through the launching of the E-Commerce Fulfilment Centre (ECFC) at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 28 September 2020, UTAR and MCM eCOM Global Venture Sdn Bhd (BizPorter) achieved another milestone by exchanging a memorandum of agreement (MoA) for the launching of the second E-Commerce Fulfilment Centre (ECFC) at UTAR Kampar Campus on 31 March 2021. The E-Commerce Fulfilment Centre (ECFC) is an initiative of UTAR Unovate Centre with great collaborative support and contribution from MCM eCom Global Venture Sdn Bhd (BizPorter). ECFC aims to create a complete e-commerce ecosystem that comprises the full cycle of the buying and selling of goods electronically. The ECFC will serve as a warehouse and e-commerce delivery centre that provides fulfilment service such as storing merchandise and prepares merchandise to be shipped out to e-commerce merchant, using the Warehouse Management System to manage and control the warehouse operations from the time goods received until the goods are shipped out. The ECFC also enables students to experience real e-commerce processes from theory to practice and operations by dealing with real products and customers.


Huawei Connected Campus 2021

Taking into consideration the Covid-19 situation, UTAR Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT) and Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd co-organised the Huawei Connected Campus 2021 via Facebook Live and Instagram Live on 11 March 2021. The event also featured a virtual career talk titled “How 5G Will Transform the Way We Live and Work” for its participants. The aims of the event were to provide students with an accessible platform to register for the virtual interview sessions and encourage them to build a connected world together with Huawei by learning about the 5G technology. The UTAR students were also encouraged to register themselves on Huawei’s career portal via a link provided on a Facebook page, namely Huawei Connected Campus.
