Academic Staff Exchange Programme

Academic Staff Exchange Programme (ASEP) allows a staff to undergo teaching for a semester at UTAR (inbound) or partner university (outbound) with Academic Staff Exchange Agreement (ASEA). Throughout the ASEP period, the staff can also explore or establish research collaboration with the host university. The teaching duty shall be decided by the host university with the prior consent with the exchange staff. The sending university normally is responsible for international travel expenses (airfare, visa and local transport to the airport) and salary, while the host university normally provides accommodation.

What are the objectives of staff mobility for teaching? 
  1. To encourage higher education institutions to broaden and enrich the range and content of courses they offer;
  2. To create links between global higher education institutions; 
  3. To promote exchange of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods

Who can benefit? 
The teaching assignments may be carried out by academic staff of UTAR or from partner university


How long is the duration?
Staff can teach abroad for maximum a trimester.
Exchange staff shall conduct a minimum of one course with no less than three (3) lecture hours per week at the host university and encourage to conduct a research project together with staff of the host university during the exchange programme.

Inbound Application

Inbound exchange staff must be existing staff of partner university with a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Agreement (MoA) with UTAR.  
Outbound Application

UTAR staff who intends to join the staff exchange programme must apply and obtain approval from faculty Dean, Staff Development Committee and President.
